Winter Olympics Investment Data:

1. The construction plan exceeds €4 billion, while just under €2 billion represents the organizational costs of the Milano-Cortina Foundation for hosting the "large-scale" Winter Games.

Data from the Ministry of Transport indicates a total investment of over €3.5 billion, involving 340 companies, and 98 projects remaining in the region: 47 sports facilities and 51 transport infrastructure projects. Among the most significant expenditure items are €132 million for the Eugenio Monti Luge Centre in Cortina and €92 million for the partial renovation of the ski jumping stadium in Predazzo. However, a more reasonable option would be to use the Milan Exhibition Center for some indoor competitions, thereby avoiding the construction of new venues. The cost of the Olympic Village in Cortina is estimated at €40 million, while in Milan it's €140 million. For the Santa Giulia Arena, this figure rises to €250 million, but is primarily financed by private investors.

2. Sponsors and Television RightsThe operating expenses of the Olympic Games are primarily covered by the Fund, whose latest budget is €1.7 billion. Nearly 60% of the expected costs are covered by contributions from the International Olympic Committee, including broadcast rights and international sponsors. Major global partners include giants such as Coca-Cola, Airbnb, Omega, and P&G. There are also national Italian sponsors: Eni, Enel, Intesa Sanpaolo, Poste Italiane, Leonardo, Salomon, Stellantis, and Ferrovie dello Stato. The latter has invested €650 million in train stations and the rail network, despite the fact that the travel time between Milan and Cortina remains around six hours, just half an hour shorter than it was 70 years ago.

The Final Ticket Frenzy

The remaining revenue will come from ticket sales, for which complete and reliable data is not yet available, but which, by all appearances, are not yet showing significant growth. Organizers estimate the audience at approximately two million, and the global audience at 3 billion. According to the latest figures, 900,000 tickets have been sold on the official platform, along with 300,000 sponsor tickets.
