IV Eurasian Forum in Verona.

The Chairman of the MCCI Italian Commission Mr. K.V. Krokhin participated in the IV Eurasian Forum, which took place on October 22-23 2015 in Verona, Italy. The forum opened with a minute of silence in memory of all people who died in the Second World War and in all global conflicts. Antonio Fallico, the Chairman of the Bank Intesa board of directors (Russian subsidiary of Italian group IntesaSanpaoloGroup), President of the Association "Conoscere Eurasia" addressed the guests of the forum with appropriate words. He noted that the forum has significantly expanded its geographic boundaries - from Lisbon to Shanghai.

The main directions of the forum's discussions this year are economy and finance; energy, infrastructure, innovation and alternative energy sources.

The forum was attended by over 500 guests from Italy, Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Armenia. Among the important participants of the meeting were Mr. Alexei Meshkov, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, Mr. Romano Prodi, President of the Foundation for International Cooperation, Mr. Alexander Shokhin, President of RSPP, Mr. Denis Manturov, Industry and Trade Minister, heads of diplomatic missions of Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Italy, representatives of the Eurasian Economic Commission and the Eurasian Economic Community, the heads of major energy, industrial and financial companies of Russia and Italy.

The IV Eurasian Forum was jointly organized by the SPIEF Foundation and the Association "Conoscere Eurasia". St.Petersburg International Economic Forum conducts foreign session since 2012 and supports international business activities in main regions of the world, including the Eurasian Forum. SPIEF is the largest Russian Economic Forum, held since 1997, under the patronage of the President of the Russian Federation since 2006.

Mrs. Federica Guidi, the Head of the Ministry of Economic Development of Italy, commented on the prospects of Russian-Italian relations in the economic sphere and noted that the Government intends to create conditions for the expansion and strengthening of business links between the countries. The main focus will be on encouraging industries that don’t fall under the sanctions restrictions. Italy intends to lobby the idea of lifting the sanctions against Russia in the EU, because a lot of sectors of the Italian economy are in close cooperation with Russian partners and incur losses due to the political course in Europe.

During the Forum Mr. K. V. Krokhin held several bilateral meetings and discussed questions of economic interaction between the Russian and Italian regions, as well as preparation and carrying out the Italian-Russian economic Forum in the city of Torino (region Piedmont, Italy) in the first half of 2016. This idea was supported by the leadership of Turin and by the governors of Murmansk and Sverdlovsk regions, Khanty-Mansi Autonomous District.

In negotiations with Mr. Luigi Skordamagliya, President FEDERALIMENTARE, Mr. Alfredo Mariotti, the General secretary of the Federation FEDERMAKKINE and Mr. Alexander Shokhin, the President of the RSPP, was reached an agreement on the participation of these organizations and their members in the activities organized by the Italian Commission, both in Italy and in the Russian Federation.

Mr. S.S. Razov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in Italy, praised the Italian-Russian forum, organized by the Italian Commission on October 15, 2015, in Russian National pavilion at the World EXPO in Milan, during the visit of the delegation of the Mayor and the Moscow Government. In his speech, Mr. S.S. Razov repeatedly returned to the theme of the last Economic Forum in Milan and its important practical results in the Russian-Italian cooperation.
